Enhance Your Memory

A strong memory depends on the health and vitality of the brain. Whether you're a student studying for final exams, a functional professional interested in doing all you are able to stay mentally sharp, or perhaps a senior looking to preserve and enhance your brain as you age, there are lots of steps you can take to improve your memory and mental performance.

A memory in our first day at school remains, but some of us forget the book we read a week ago! There are so many trivial things we remember, however we often forget things you want to remember. Does this happen to you?

Stay mentally active

Just like physical activity helps keep your body fit, mentally stimulating activities help to keep your brain in shape - and maybe keep memory loss at bay. Do crossword puzzles. Read a piece of the newspaper that you normally skip. Take alternate routes when driving. Learn how to play a musical instrument. Volunteer at a local school or community organization.

Socialize regularly

Social interaction helps defend against depression and stress, each of which can contribute to memory loss. Look for possibilities to get together with loved ones, friends yet others - especially if you live alone. When you are invited to share a meal or attend a celebration, go!

Get organized

You're more prone to forget things if your house is cluttered and your notes have been in disarray. Jot down tasks, appointments along with other events in a special notebook, calendar or electronic planner. You may even repeat each entry aloud as you jot it down to help cement it inside your memory. Keep to-do lists current, and appearance off items you've completed. Put aside a certain place for your wallet, keys along with other essentials.

Focus

Limit distractions, and do not try to do too many things at the same time. If you focus on the information that you are trying to remember, you'll be more prone to recall it later. It could also help to connect what you are trying to remember to a favorite song or any other familiar concept.
